Daron M. Powers, Senior Associate & Director, Quality Programs

Daron M. Powers Daron Powers began his consulting and training practice in 1979 and brings applies a wide variety of knowledge, practices and experiences in organizational development, process improvement, customer focus, and leadership skills to residential home building. His work consistently yields steady improvements as measured by customer satisfaction ratings, profit margins, and ongoing client relationships. Daron’s past clients have included Fortune 500 companies such as Pulte Homes, Ford Motor, General Motors, Chrysler, ADP, and many small to mid-sized organizations.

During the onset of the American quality movement, Daron facilitated improvement processes for numerous automotive manufacturing and engineering divisions; he instructed leadership courses and managed teams of facilitators to improve productivity by systematically breaking down long-standing walls between departments. He and his team were credited with assisting scores of manufacturing and office facilities in a significant reduction of fear in the workplace and making a profound impact on internal communications and overall teamwork.

In 1990 Daron met Scott Sedam, Vice President of Quality with the Pulte Home Corporation, and future founder of TrueNorth Development. Together they developed, designed, and implemented quality processes that set the standard for application of Total Quality principles in the residential home building industry. Daron has also consulted and keynoted in the Remodeling and Construction Supply business since the late eighties and is a contributing author to the IBACOS Quality Home Newsletter. He also writes articles and conducts building industry interviews for HousingZone.com.

Daron also has extensive experience in selling and teaching sales process and is currently directing the development of TrueNorth’s new “Sales Development System,” which is designed with a ground-breaking approach to new home sales.

Daron earned a Master Facilitator designation as a member of the Dale Carnegie Organization. He combines a degree in business management with broad experience in sales, instructional design, strategic planning, motivation, adult learning, facilitation, and stand-up speaking skills. He also served in the United States Air Force in the Civil Engineering Squadron as a surveyor, cost estimator, and site developer.

Married with three daughters, Daron enjoys gardening, golfing (hacking) as well as composing, recording, and performing pop-jazz music. He holds a brown belt and black belt in two different martial arts.

Random Fact: At age 15, he won 3rd place in a Ford Motor-Bank of Dearborn sponsored car design contest, bringing credit to Robichaud High School.
Favorite Tool: The “battery operated” electric drill. Still hasn’t gotten over how he’s no longer tied to the electric outlet to get ‘er done.
